Several from the Unit for Health Services Research and Innovation (EHI) recently participated in the Digital Rheumatology Days in Berlin, which was held for the seventh time on March 21–22.

The theme of the conference was "Reshaping patient care", and the program was packed with over 22 lectures, workshops and group discussions.

Topics included medical app development, machine learning and AI, patient-centered design, implementation of digital solutions, and trends in digital rheumatology.

Digital studies at EHI and REMEDY

 – The conference gave inspiration to continue working on our ongoing digital studies such as NOR-Flare, OA-AID, ReMonit Gout and SPARK, says Nina Østerås from Diakonhjemmet Hospital.

Medical equipment

A particularly useful workshop was on the development and categorization of medical devices, something we are taking forward in the RECONNECT network for decentralized studies.

It is interesting to see how differently different countries interpret what should be defined as a medical device – which has implications for both approval, use and further innovation.

The conference brought together 130 participants from 19 countries – a good mix of researchers, clinicians, patient representatives and industry representatives.

RECONNECT

Remember to register for the RECONNECT seminar,  Holistic planning of decentralized clinical trials - what do you need to consider?
