REMEDY Foreign scholarship
– For researchers affiliated with REMEDY who want to spend time abroad
Purpose
Our researchers are encouraged to spend time abroad in a relevant research group. The purpose of the scheme is to increase the proportion of researchers who undertake a research stay abroad. International experience is important for a researcher's career and helps to strengthen Norwegian research by increasing competence and adding new knowledge to the project, developing networks and strengthening opportunities for access to the international research front.
Who can apply?
Doctoral fellows, postdoctoral fellows or researchers in ongoing research projects associated with REMEDY, employed in at least a 50% position from the time of application and throughout the entire project period.
Applications can also be made for mobility grants for international researchers who wish to come to the REMEDY center in Norway.
Requirements for applicants
- The candidate must have at least a 50% position as a doctoral fellow, postdoctoral fellow or researcher in a project affiliated with REMEDY.
- Where the employee has funds from other institutions that offer foreign scholarships, these should be applied for first (e.g. South-East Health).
- The stay abroad must last a minimum of 4 weeks. The norm is up to 6 months of support, but in exceptional cases support may be granted for even longer stays.
- Candidates who have children under the age of 16 and who choose to complete their stay abroad without children or spouse/cohabitant may apply for support for multiple shorter stays. The need for such a flexible solution must be justified in the application.
- The same candidate can only receive support for a REMEDY Foreign Scholarship of up to 12 months in total.
- The deadline for departure is one year after the award of the scholarship abroad.
The rates for scholarships abroad
The foreign scholarship must be used to cover travel, establishment and additional expenses during research stays abroad. Salaries during the stay abroad must be covered by the scholarship or employer.
- Single (without family): 24,000 NOK per month
- With family: NOK 41,000 per month
In addition, coverage of travel expenses (cheapest mode of travel) for the researcher (not for accompanying family) can be applied for. REMEDY only covers one round trip to up to two destinations, provided that the research stays take place in two different countries.
Candidates who have children under the age of 16 and who choose to complete their stay abroad without their children and spouse/cohabitant may apply for support for multiple shorter stays and multiple return trips. The need for such a flexible solution must be justified in the application.
