Doctoral exam on hand osteoarthritis on December 11th
Elisabeth Mulrooney has researched pain in hand osteoarthritis and will complete the final part of her doctorate with a trial lecture and defense.
Address: Diakonveien 12, 0370 Oslo
The thesis is titled Pain in hand osteoarthritis in a biopsychosocial framework.
Mulrooney's research provides insight into how biological, psychological and social factors influence the experience of pain in people with hand osteoarthritis.
She has investigated the relationship between pain and factors such as anxiety, depression and coping skills and has identified different subgroups of patients with hand osteoarthritis based on these factors, among others.
The research may have great significance for future adaptation of pain treatment, where individual adaptation is the focus.
The doctoral degree is based on findings from the Nor-Hand study, an observational cohort study that has collected extensive data on pain, psychological factors, and comorbidities since 2016.
You are welcome to attend the doctoral examination at Diakonhjemmet Hospital on December 11th.
