Meet Dag O. Hessen at the Green Congress

In an era marked by climate change, loss of biodiversity and increasing environmental challenges, we need voices that are able to convey the complexity of nature's crises with both professional weight and human warmth. Dag O. Hessen is one of them.

Professor of Biology

As a professor of biology at the University of Oslo and until recently head of the Centre for Biogeochemistry in the Anthropocene, he has for several decades been a key communicator of knowledge about ecology, evolution and sustainability.

Green Congress

On Friday, June 20, he will give a lecture at this year's Green Congress. It sets the tone for the entire event. The congress, which is organized by Diakonhjemmet Hospital and the research center REMEDY, is free and available digitally to all interested parties.

Humanity at the tipping point

Hessen is known for his ability to make complex scientific topics understandable and relevant to a wide audience. His lectures provide insight into how climate and nature are more closely connected than many realize, how this is also crucial for global health and security, and what we as a society and individuals can and must do.

In his lecture at the Green Congress, Hessen will draw on his book "The World at the Tipping Point", where he sheds light on the current status and potential limits or tipping points in nature and climate. He will discuss problems with the "green shift", how we can meet these challenges with knowledge, cooperation and sustainable solutions, and not least how positive, social tipping points can help us.

Green Congress 2025 is a unique opportunity to gain professional knowledge and inspiration to meet the environmental challenges of our time. The event is free and can be followed digitally, so you can participate no matter where you are.
