ReMonit Gout has included its first patient
The usability study provided good reasons to continue research on the Urika app. Now the randomized controlled trial on digital follow-up of gout is underway.
In the picture you see Silje Søhus who has included the first patient.
The study will investigate whether digital follow-up is as good as the current follow-up at Diakonhjemmet Hospital. Patients who are about to start uric acid-lowering treatment are currently followed up by a nurse via telephone.
The digital follow-up consists of the coping app Urika. A nurse monitors the treatment via a digital platform. Communication takes place via a messaging service in the app.
The Urika app has been developed together with user representatives and specialists.
It contains information about gout and treatment in the form of films and text. Patients can set reminders for medication at the desired time. A graph shows the development of uric acid levels over time. The app also has a function for adjusting medication doses and the date of the next blood test.
The Urika app has been thoroughly tested by 21 patients in a usability study. Patients were satisfied with the app and the digital follow-up.
A total of 168 patients will be included in the study. Participants will be recruited from patients referred to Diakonhjemmet Hospital during an attack of gout. To be able to participate in the study, they must own a smartphone or tablet and understand Norwegian.
