Experiences with an app for rehabilitation in the municipality: Project DRIV

Can an app support patients in their rehabilitation? And can it improve collaboration with therapists?
This is what the researchers have investigated in the DRIV project. The name stands for Digital Rehabilitation Support and Innovative Enterprises.
The webinar will be broadcast on Friday 25 September at 0830.
Tried out the app in municipal services
Two municipalities tested the Flowzone app. It was used in a team that follows up adults at home. It was also used at a health center. Experience from private businesses that offer rehabilitation is also included in the project.
Investigated the benefits for patients and practitioners
Both patients and therapists participated in the study. They answered questions and were interviewed. The researchers wanted to find out how the app worked in practice. They also investigated what benefits the participants believed it had in treatment.
New opportunities – and challenges
In the webinar, Anne-Lene Sand-Svartrud talks about what they found. She shows how an app can help patients manage their own health. Digital support can also provide new opportunities in collaboration between therapists. At the same time, there are challenges. These include technology, collaboration and operations.
Sand-Svartrud is an occupational therapist and has a PhD in health sciences. She is a researcher at Diakonhjemmet Hospital and REMEDY. She has researched rehabilitation in hospitals, municipalities and private services.
Digital solutions in rehabilitation
The researchers started DRIV to follow up on the health authorities' desire for more use of digital solutions in rehabilitation and more support for patients' self-management. Before initiating major measures, it is important to investigate the current situation and find out what patients and therapists need. DRIV is a small study of how a digital solution works and is experienced in practice.
The project is supported by the Dam Foundation, project number SDAM_HEL601359.
