Hip fracture database
Diakonhjemmet's hip fracture database
Project Manager
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Norway is among the countries in the world with the most osteoporosis and hip fractures per capita, and Diakonhjemmet is one of the hospitals that operate the most hip fractures in the country. These fractures cause great morbidity and mortality in the population.
The treatment of these patients is largely interdisciplinary, and at Diakonhjemmet hip fracture patients are treated on a separate orthogeriatric ward where the patients are looked after by orthopedists, geriatricians, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists in collaboration.
WHO CAN JOIN?
People with hip fractures who are operated on at Diakonhjemmet hospital.
WHAT DOES THE STUDY INCLUDE?
Since 2006, data on all hip fracture patients has been registered in a separate database. This database now contains information on over 7,000 patients, and this material is analyzed in several projects to look at outcomes after hip fractures.
