Publish cheaper – or for free

Someone who writes on a computer

Are you planning to publish an article? See an overview of selected journals with no or reduced Article Processing Charge (APC).

The hospital has entered into reading and publishing agreements with several publishers.

In this  PDF you will find a comprehensive overview of the agreements,  with links to complete journal lists from each publisher.

The agreements make publishing cheaper and at the same time ensure that the research meets the Research Council's Open Access requirements.

The same publishers are also included in the reading agreements, which means that employees have free access to many of their journals.

Do you want to check whether a particular journal is included in a publish and read agreement or whether it is an Open Access journal?

Search for the journal in  the Channel Register  and check which publisher publishes it. If it is one of these four, it may be covered by the agreement. Not all journals are included. You must therefore check the websites about the publishing agreements, where you will find title lists:

Some agreements allow for publication in both hybrid and gold journals. Hybrid journals are subscription journals where you can choose to publish openly. Gold journals are open to everyone, from publication. In hybrid journals, APC is fully covered. In gold journals, you usually get a discount of around 15%.

It is important to note that there may still be additional costs related to, for example, the number of images, use of colors or length of the article. Such additional costs vary between different journals, so it is recommended to check the specific terms and conditions for each individual journal.

To be covered by APC, you must be affiliated with the hospital and be listed as the corresponding author upon submission.

In addition, the hospital has reading agreements with:

  • Nature journals from Springer Nature
  • JAMA Journals of the American Medical Association
  • ClinicalKey (encyclopedia)
  • Lippincott
  • Individual journals via EBSCO

Complete lists of journals can be found in the library catalog  Oria .
