The building now contains 23 office spaces in open landscapes. In addition, there are two large meeting rooms, four quiet rooms, wardrobes with shower facilities and a social zone with kitchen and coffee machine.
Kjetil Bergsmark, the head of the Clinic for Rheumatology, Outpatient Clinic and Research, welcomed the event.
"We are very pleased with the solution and see that this gives researchers better working conditions and more opportunities for interaction," he said.
The journey to the apple garden
Through a slideshow, we gained insight into how the apple garden has become a reality.
"This gives us welcome arms and facilitates even better research work," said Espen A. Haavardsholm when he held this post. He leads Remedy and is head of research at the hospital.
Espen A. Haavardsholm emphasized that the proximity to the clinical environment in the hospital provides good opportunities for collaboration and development.
A building of great importance
The building has already been of great importance to the research community at the hospital after it was lifted into place in December 2024.
Kaj Boland has been a key player in the establishment of the apple garden. He is the head of joint services in the Diakonhjemmet Foundation. He was duly thanked for his efforts and the good cooperation in connection with the establishment.
- We worked for a long time to find a good solution for the expansion, and now we see that this works well. The location, close to both the outpatient clinic and the researchers in the villa, is a great advantage, Kaj Boland said after the opening.
He also pointed out that the garden should be repaired after the five years have passed.
Now the garden stands for turn
The working group for the Apple Garden is led by Elisabeth Røssum-Haaland. She has been particularly focused on creating a good working environment through adaptations in ICT, furnishing and logistics.
- Now the outdoor areas stand for a walk, with a terrace and planting, she says.
During the event, she was awarded well -deserved honors for her efforts in leading the project from the hospital:

Raw, said Kjetil Bergsmark, when he thanked Elisabeth Haaland for the effort with the apple garden.
Official opening
Hospital Director Kari-Jussi Lønning emphasized the importance of the new building for the research-and how crucial research is for professional development.
"The research at the hospital and Remedy is a spearhead in the development of rheumatology," she said.
The close link to the clinic makes it possible to quickly convert research results into better treatment for patients, said Kari-Jussie Lønning in connection with the opening.
