The research seminar opened with center director Espen A. Haavardsholm presenting the comprehensive annual report for REMEDY 2023. Achievements of young researchers and development in the individual projects, as well as public dissemination, financial cooperation, etc., were mentioned with pride. REMEDY marked its second year in 2023. The research center's overall goal is to improve treatments for those living with rheumatological and musculoskeletal diseases. Here you can read about some of what happened in 2023!

A final meeting for the BRIDGE study was held on March 4 at Gardermoen. Professor Ingvild Kjeken has been the project manager for the study, which has taken place at eight rehabilitation sites in the specialist health service in Norway, and a total of 374 patients have participated.

Research from the REMEDY Center at Diakonhjemmet Hospital gives hope for a more predictable everyday life for patients with chronic inflammatory diseases.

Innovation in patient care is at the heart of the feasibility study in the ReMonit Gout project. The study will test the usability of the patient app, Urika, designed to support people starting uric acid-lowering treatment.

The Clinic for Rheumatology, Outpatient Clinic and Research has had its status as a EULAR Center of Excellence renewed. The clinic received this status in 2008 and has held it ever since. The status is granted for five years at a time, based on scientific activity in the previous 5 years.

Valeria Melokhina gave a presentation in "Contact meeting for doctors" at Diakonhjemmet hospital on 2 February. - Due to the fact that the war in Ukraine has been going on for 10 years, Valeria held a speech on what her hometown was like before the Russian invasion in 2014 and how the events developed there at that time, said meeting chair, Guro Løvik Goll.

In the ExeHeart study at Diakonhjemmet Hospital, researchers have revealed that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) can have significant benefits for patients with joint disease. This is confirmed by Marie Dahlskjær (29), who developed juvenile arthritis at the age of 12.

Physician and PhD candidate Marthe Gløersen is contributing with her doctorate to a breakthrough in the understanding of pain in hand osteoarthritis. Her research at Diakonhjemmet Hospital reveals new insights into the relationship between body mass index (BMI), pain sensitization, and hand osteoarthritis.
