The healthcare sector is responsible for large greenhouse gas emissions. Now two leading research groups in Norway are taking an international initiative to calculate the climate footprint in advance of medical treatments. The goal is to offer healthcare services that are beneficial for both the patient and the planet. These ambitions have recently been published in the highest ranked medical journal internationally, The New England Journal of Medicine. 

The doctoral thesis shows a connection between the patient's immune response and the effect of treatment in inflammatory diseases of the joints and intestines. The research has contributed to a greater understanding of how the immune system affects the effect of biological medicines and COVID-19 vaccines in people with such diseases.

Green Congress will be held for the fourth time, on June 21, 2024 at Deichman Bjørvika. As is tradition, the event opens with an environmental lecture. This year we have been fortunate enough to have CICERO researcher Bob van Oort join us.

Professor Nina Østerås, head of the Health Services Research Unit, gave an abstract presentation on the SAMBA study's eight-year link to the prosthesis registry. 

Marthe Kirkesæther Brun's doctoral thesis holds the key to preventing disease flare-ups in individuals with chronic inflammatory disease: The dosage of the biological drug infliximab should be adjusted over time, based on measurements of the drug's concentration in the blood.

The point-giving course in user participation in medical and health research was held at Eitri Health Incubator at Haukeland Hospital.
