The very first biopsies in the START project were the starting point for the operational part of an ambitious research effort. If everything goes as planned, it will make major contributions to diagnostics and treatment for patients with inflammatory arthritis.

In 2024, Diakonhjemmet Hospital set a new record with 14 doctorates in one year. This marks an important milestone in the work for better treatment and healthcare services. It is the result of a long-term commitment to research and innovation for the benefit of patients. Seven of the doctorates come from the REMEDY center. 

More than 50,000 Norwegians are taking a common type of medicine to suppress their immune system. A new study shows that these patients are no longer at high risk of severe COVID-19.

Conducting clinical trials requires more than just researchers. Support staff handle regulations, applications, and documents. They also contribute to good communication in the studies.

The board of Helse Sør-Est RHF has approved the allocation of regional research funds for 2025. The sum is NOK 149 million for a total of 86 research projects. A significant part of this goes to Diakonhjemmet hospital and projects in the REMEDY portfolio. Research shows that patients who participate in their own treatment often have better outcomes. In his PhD project, Joachim Sagen has investigated why user participation is important in healthcare. The study looks at how patient participation can make treatment and rehabilitation more successful. 

"We will develop a coordination practice that is simpler and more transparent for everyone involved in the rehabilitation process," says project manager Anne-Lene Sand-Svartrud, Diakonhjemmet Hospital. Here together with Anders Bjørneby, Flow Technologies, from the DRIV project group.

The DRIV project will receive NOK 400,000 from the Dam Health program and can thus start as planned in April 2025. The goal is to make it easier to coordinate measures when a patient needs services from multiple professional groups, sectors or service levels at the same time.
